Amruthapura is a beautiful village in the Chikkamagaluru district. Amruteshwara temple attracts many devotees and tourists. It is a wonderful temple of Lord Shiva built by Amrutheshwara Dandanayaka under Hoysala King Veera Ballala II. Its building style is similar to Veeranarayana temple at Belavadi. Many stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata are sculpted on the Mantapa of this temple. It is a rich temple of architecture. Poems of Janna are inscribed on stones here.
